Biruh Tesfa Pre-Primary School Reconstructed and Inaugurated in Debre Birhan

On October 5, 2024, Partners in Education Ethiopia (PiEE) inaugurated the fully reconstructed Biruh Tesfa Pre-Primary School in Debre Birhan Town, a milestone made possible through the collective efforts of the community, local government, partners, and our donors, ISEE.

The new school compound features three classroom blocks housing a total of 12 bright and child-friendly classrooms, along with a latrine block with showers and an administrative office. Beyond construction, PiEE worked to create a participatory and engaging learning environment by fully furnishing each classroom with desks, chairs, mattresses, shelves, Montessori learning materials, and books, in collaboration with the International Community School (ICS) Addis Ababa.

PiEE envisions Biruh Tesfa Pre-Primary School as a model Early Childhood Development (ECD) center—a demonstration site for innovative, inclusive, and play-based learning, inspiring other schools in Debre Birhan and beyond.

The inauguration ceremony brought together officials from the Debre Birhan City Administration and the Amhara Regional Government, as well as children, parents, and community members, all celebrating a shared vision of rebuilding hope and nurturing the future of young learners.

Heartfelt thanks to everyone who contributed to making this project a reality!
