Our Mission

To provide quality, inclusive education to those who need it most.

Partners in Education Ethiopia is a non-denominational Canadian charity dedicated to improving lives through education. We believe education doesn’t just transform classrooms — it transforms communities.

Registered in Canada, Ethiopia, and the state of Alaska, Partners works to create lasting, measurable change by investing in the people, places, and partnerships that make learning possible.

Our Working Principles

We take a holistic, community-driven approach that goes beyond classrooms to address the full ecosystem of education.

Community ownership. Every project begins with local leadership. Communities contribute, on average, 60–80% of project costs, ensuring shared responsibility and sustainability.

Partnership for progress. We collaborate with local schools, education offices, academic institutions, hospitals, NGOs, and governments to design and deliver solutions that meet real needs.

Long-term impact. We follow and support projects for up to five years after completion to ensure programs continue to thrive.

Evidence of change. Our focus is on measurable outcomes — improved access, quality of learning, and overall community well-being.

Investing in people. We strengthen not only facilities but also teachers, students, and communities, building local capacity that lasts.

Why Ethiopia

We focus on Ethiopia because of its deep need — and its extraordinary potential. All of Partners’s staff and volunteers are Ethiopian, giving us firsthand insight into both the challenges and the resilience of its people.

The Ethiopian government has made major strides in expanding access to education, yet poverty and infrastructure gaps continue to limit opportunity, especially in rural areas. Our work is concentrated in the Amhara Region, where needs are high, partnerships are strong, and our teams can safely deliver projects that make tangible, lasting impact.
