Governance
As a registered Canadian charitable organization, Partners maintains full direction and control from Canada. All administrative costs incurred in Canada — apart from minor bank fees — are covered pro bono, ensuring that every donor dollar directly supports programs in Ethiopia.
All expenditures are paid through our Ethiopian bank accounts, with facility development transactions requiring approval from the Canadian CFO before any payment is issued. For construction projects, an independent consultant engineer inspects each site and verifies materials and workmanship before invoices are reviewed by the Executive Director and approved by the CFO.
Financial statements are prepared by the CFO, audited annually by an auditor approved by the Ethiopian government, and then translated into Canadian dollars in accordance with Canadian accounting standards.
