New Vision Center Expands Access to Eye Care in Debre Birhan

Partners in Education Ethiopia (Partners) is proud to share the successful inauguration of the Vision Center at Debre Birhan University Hospital, a significant step toward expanding access to quality eye care services in the region.

The event brought together Debre Birhan University leadership, the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, hospital management, and other key stakeholders. University President Dr. Asmare Melese and Hospital CEO Dr. Tewodros highlighted the strength of the partnership with Partners in Education Ethiopia and the shared commitment to improving eye health services for communities in need.

The new Vision Center is the result of collaborative efforts that included facility assessment, procurement and installation of equipment, and provision of spectacles. Looking ahead, the partnership will support school eye screening programs, community outreach, door-to-door surveys, and sustainable service delivery mechanisms.

We are grateful to Debre Birhan University, Bahir Dar University, our dedicated team, Operation Eyesight Universal and all partners who contributed to making this milestone possible.

Together, we are helping more children and communities access the eye care services they deserve.
