Healthy smiles, better learning
Partners in Education Ethiopia (PiEE), in partnership with Dental Mavericks, has launched a targeted initiative to improve students’ oral health across eight partner public schools in Bahir Dar, Amhara Region.
During an integrated dental screening held alongside a recent school sports tournament in Bahir Dar, 28 students were identified with 78 teeth requiring professional treatment. For many of these children, it was the first time their dental problems had ever been examined.
Starting January 31, 2026, students began receiving treatment through coordinated support with private dental clinics in Bahir Dar, ensuring they access timely, safe, and quality care.
Untreated dental pain can make it hard for children to concentrate, participate, and succeed in school. By addressing oral health, this initiative is not only relieving pain, it is helping students return to class more comfortable, confident, and ready to learn.
This partnership reflects a shared commitment to student well-being and to building the healthy foundations children need to thrive academically and beyond.
