Coscos Pre Primary School Inaguration

We are proud to celebrate the inauguration of a new pre-primary school in Bahir Dar, now officially named Coscos Pre-Primary School.

In a deeply meaningful gesture, the school formerly Addis Amba Pre-Primary School has been renamed by the school leadership, community, and city administration in honor of our founders, David and Gina Cosco. This recognition reflects more than a decade of commitment to expanding access to quality and inclusive education in Ethiopia. It is not just a name, it is a legacy shaped through consistent investment in children, teachers, and communities.

The inauguration brought together high-level officials from the Amhara Regional Government, city administration representatives, community members, school leadership, and the wider school community. We were especially honored by the presence of our founder, Mrs. Gina Cosco, who traveled from Canada to be part of this important occasion. In her remarks, she expressed heartfelt gratitude for the recognition and reaffirmed Partner's continued commitment to supporting efforts that improve access to quality and inclusive education in Ethiopia.

Coscos Pre-Primary School serves a vibrant learning community, with 600 children enrolled, including 293 girls. The school is also supporting 10 children with special needs, an important step toward making inclusion a lived reality, not just an aspiration.

The new facility provides a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment for early learning. It includes 12 classrooms across three blocks, a dedicated special needs classroom, and key support spaces such as a principal’s office, staff room, and first aid room. Child-friendly WASH facilities, safe walkways, a welcoming entrance, and a reliable water system with a 5,000-liter tank and 21 water points ensure a dignified and functional environment. Fully furnished classrooms and outdoor play spaces further support children’s holistic development.

This initiative is a powerful example of what can be achieved when communities, government, and committed partners come together around a shared vision. But beyond the infrastructure, what matters most is what will happen inside these spaces the learning, the confidence, the sense of belonging, and the futures being shaped every single day.
