Firin Pre-Primary & Primary School
Firin Pre-Primary & Primary School was first established in 2005 to provide a safe alternative for children who previously had to cross a dangerous bridge to reach school. Initially operating in a rented building and later in mud classrooms built by parents, the school served mostly low-income and recently resettled families who relied on subsistence farming. Overcrowded and unsafe conditions made learning difficult, with classes averaging 70 students per shift.
In 2019, Partners and the local community completed and furnished new cement-block classrooms, creating a safe and welcoming environment that meets government standards. Ongoing teacher training, numeracy and literacy assessments, and sanitation, hygiene, and educational gardening programs are strengthening learning outcomes and improving overall school health.
